The Fredericia municipal stadium is at the center of attention as authorities investigate FC Fredericia's free rent. The Danish Authority has opened a case and asked the municipality to respond. This comes after Jyllands-Posten's exposure of the football club's favorable lease terms with Fredericia Municipality. Mayor Christian Bro welcomes the move and believes it is good that the Authority is getting involved. FC Fredericia does not pay a single krone in rent to Fredericia Municipality, which owns the stadium. The price should, according to the contract between the club and the municipality, be at least 552,573 kr. per year. Professor Sten Bønsing believes that it is an illegal subsidy that a municipality is not allowed to give. He refers to the fact that it is a matter of business subsidies in contravention of the municipal authority. The same assessment came from Professor Karsten Naundrup Olesen, who pointed out that the Authority could look into the circumstances in Fredericia. Mayor Christian Bro has rejected the notion that it is a matter of illegal business subsidies, citing a note from the law firm Bech-Bruun to the municipality in 2021, which concludes that the municipal support for FC Fredericia is legal. Bech-Bruun encouraged the municipality in the 2021 note to ensure that the support for FC Fredericia remains legal. This should especially be taken into account if the club is promoted, increases salaries and commercial activities. Monjasa Park is the stadium where FC Fredericia plays its home games. In the summer, FC Fredericia was promoted to the Super League from the 1st division, but despite Bech-Bruun's warnings, the free rent was extended until 2026.
