Fredericia has decided to sell goalkeeper Valdemar Birksø back to his old club FC Fredericia in Denmark as part of a deal with Martin Børsheim, who will be the new first choice for FFK. Valdemar Birksø was brought to Fredrikstad in January 2025, but was immediately loaned out to FC Fredericia in Denmark. He was brought back to Fredrikstad when the sale of Jonathan Fischer went through last summer. But the joy on Norwegian soil was short-lived, as Birksø was seriously injured in his debut against Tromsø. FFK had to go on the market for goalkeepers and bring in Martin Børsheim shortly before the deadline to register players for the European qualifying round. Now FFK's conclusion is that Martin Børsheim did so well between the posts that they want to bet on him going forward. In Fredrikstad, the club's view is that they are now making a sensible deal with regard to Martin Børsheim's performances last autumn. From bringing Birksø on a cheap buy-out clause last autumn, they make some money on the sale – in addition to being able to bet on a young Norwegian.
